James "Bud" Sheppard

Attorney

Bud Sheppard, a Jackson native who frequents the Mississippi Gulf Coast, is an Associate Attorney at Porter | Malouf. Prior to joining the firm, Bud clerked for the Honorable Taylor B. McNeel on the United States District Court for the Southern District of Mississippi. Bud graduated magna cum laude from Mississippi College School of Law in 2021, where he served as Editor-in-Chief of the Mississippi College Law Review. As Editor-in-Chief, Bud led the publication of Volume 39 and received the Best Comment Award for his article titled “The Dormant Right to Plant-Based Food.” While in law school, Bud interned for the Honorable Cory T. Wilson on the Mississippi Court of Appeals and Mississippi State Treasurer David McRae. Bud received numerous litigation awards for his activity on the Moot Court Board.

 

Bud graduated from Loyola University New Orleans with a bachelor’s degree in Economics and a minor in Latin. While at Loyola, Bud had the honor to serve as Student Body President and Chief Justice. Bud is an Alpha Omega of St. Andrew’s Episcopal School in Ridgeland, where Bud’s peers voted him “Mr. St. Andrew’s.”

 

Bud serves the community as President of The Phoenix Club of Jackson, a registered 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Organization tasked with raising funds and awareness for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Central Mississippi.
